Velika represents long-term care providers, assisted living facilities, commercial transportation clients, and industrial manufacturers in state and federal courts. Her practice includes long-term care litigation, professional liability, healthcare litigation, the Federal Employers’ Liability Act, toxic torts, transportation litigation, premises liability, and a variety of commercial claims.
When clients work with Velika, they receive superior legal strategy in addition to excellent client service. She consistently prioritizes her client’s goals and cost efficiency in her cases, whether through early venue transfer, early resolution, or other strategies.
Her achievements for clients have included a total defense verdict on behalf of a big-box retailer, summary judgment for a commercial transportation company, and dismissal on the pleadings. In her assisted living facility practice she has successfully leveraged preliminary objections to obtain case transfers to arbitration and ultimately favorable resolutions. Prior to joining LCBF, Velika worked at a law firm with a national presence, where she focused on commercial and healthcare litigation.
Velika graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. While attending the George Washington University School of Law, she was a Dean’s Fellow, a Thurgood Marshall Scholar, and a merit scholarship recipient, as well as a Notes Editor and the Technology Editor of the Public Contract Law Journal. Velika also received the Excellence in Oral Advocacy Award in the Dentons Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. She served as a legal assistant for Professor Arthur E. Wilmarth, Jr. and was a judicial intern for the Honorable Noel L. Hillman of the United States District Court: District of New Jersey.
